That is interesting about the Christian influence and the headline of the newspaper about stopping bull fighting. Never having been to Portugal, I am interested in what the majority of people think about bull fighting. Is it accepted or do people think it is cruel?

Bull fighting is accepted by the general populace and is a village ritual which the administration is careful to handle with velvelt gloves.

It was banned in 1998 but its popularity with the betting mafia creates these outbursts of bullfights in remote areas.

Oh, there are places in the United States where men bet on fighting dogs. 98% of the people think it is barbaric, but they are hidden just like you said. Oh, what a world…
